Big ups to my boy Yongie Phresh on his second single feat. Decipher & Jdot!

A couple days ago, on our way to the Supply Benefit Concert to meet Clara and Jason Min, we were TOO hungry that we had to stop by somewhere to grab something real quick. We already made plans with Clara to eat Chicken&Rice (first time for her!) so we wanted something light. One of our friends said that we just HAD to try this Chinese pancake. Decipher and I were thinking, “we don’t want pancakes, man…” But we ended up going to this place called Venessa’s Dumpling (don’t sound chinese at all) by Eldridge and Broome street in Chinatown… and wow. This Peking Duck pancake made the entire trip worth it. If you ever in Chinatown, try it!
Just chillin in The Bassment working on Decipher’s next album “The Effect.”
Decided to take a break and listen through some of the songs off the album and when this song came on, my man Yongie Phresh went nuts.
When what I need isn’t what I want, can what I want really become what I need? If I ever thought that I wanted became what I needed, was that genuine or was I just fooling myself?
If what I want can’t genuinely become what I need, then can I ever want what I need not only because I need it? Do we live our lives just continuously fooling ourselves? Are we satisfied?
Jay is killin’ it! He linked up with one of my favorite producers, “Brave Brothers” and released “울고싶단말야” last week. He hasn’t released too many songs since his comeback but I’d say this is definitely the best one so far. Is that Sung Yuri in the MV? She looks really different.
Hello folks. It’s about that time… for a brand new contest where we are giving away two pairs of tickets to the International Secret Agents Concerts. This year there is one in NY set for August 28th, and one in LA on September 5th. If you don’t know what ISA is all about, well you need to ask somebody because its one of the biggest talent showcases featuring a ton of Asian American artists. The concert series is already in it’s third year running and gearing up to be the biggest yet.
That’s why we’ve decided to give you, our beloved readers, a chance to go to the show FOR FREE. We have one pair of tickets to give away for each NY and LA. You can enter the drawing for either city, or both! Check out the CRAZY line up!
* NY: David Choi, David Garibaldo, Far East Movement, Jennifer Chung, Lydia Paek, Quest Dance Crew, & Wong Fu
* LA: AJ Rafael & friends, Alyssa Bernal, FM, Poreotics Dance Crew, Wong Fu, & Jay Park + AoM
Last week, I posted a video of Sam Ock’s new song “Beautiful People” for 2010 JCPenney Breakout Performer Contest. This time I want to introduce you to my good friend Esna Yoon. She’s one of the most talented singers I know in this scene. She performed a self-composed song for the contest (correct me if I’m wrong) and I’m really feelin’ the vibe. Unfortunately, she’s not one of top vote-getters in this contest but that only tells me that the results are not only based on talent. Go vote for her!
My favorite song right now. Genius.
On my way home from the city. Suns about to come up. Always depresses me!
Hmmm I think I want this.
Clara’s album preview. Knowing how passionate someone is for their music, you have no choice but to be supportive and love the music they make - if you ever met Clara in person or saw her perform, you’d know what I’m talking about. Check out this album preview. Presale is available so go support the cause!
Luke’s Lobster Roll in East Village. We have Muzo dinner tomorrow. Let’s see if I can convince everyone to agree to go and try it.

Just another day in the studio.

ONE OF THE BEST - FINALLY UP FOR DOWNLOAD - Back in April of ‘09, Decipher, Manifest, Lyricks and I released a song called “One of the Best.” It’s got a lot of attention and even to this day, I get e-mails from fans asking for a download link. Even on iTunes, this song and “Rollercoaster” is the best seller out of all the tracks in my album.
If you ever looked at the tracklisting for “Basic Strategy”, you’ll notice that there’s two versions of the track - “Original” and “MV Version”. That’s because “MV Version” is INCOMPLETE and is only a BONUS track on my album. In the Original version, my man JL hops on the third verse.
So why isn’t JL in the video??
As some of you may know, “One of the Best” was done on the spot - writing the lyrics, recording the track, shooting the video. That was the first time I ever met JL and I didn’t want to be too pushy so I didn’t even ask him to be on the track. But when everyone was busy writing, recording, and shooting for the song, JL was doin’ his thang too and wrote a verse for the song. But it was AFTER the camera crew left that he asked if he can hop in the booth. I never heard the dude rap before that day and he killltt it. But don’t take my word for it, take a listen.
With that said, my new bandcamp is up and running!
