내 안에 있으니 [03.03.2009]

March 2, 2010

Exactly a year ago (March 2, 2009 in America, March 3, 2009 in Korea), I lost my best friend.

Miss you, dad.

So I’m ridin the beat,

i’m so helpless, 막막해

Pictures from the Album Release Party!

February 11, 2010

It’s been almost a month since my album release party. Like I’ve said before, it was a great turn out and I got pictures to prove it!

Again, thanks to everyone who’s come out and support. Video footage coming soon!

Meet Schoolboy DUKE

February 9, 2010

Schoolboy DUKE is one of my favorite artists in the scene. I had the opportunity to work with him on one of the tracks in my album and I really gotta give it to him. His talent is undeniable. It might be a little hard to classify him though. Is he a rapper? singer? He’s a creative artist overall. Personally, I think he and I have a similar style than anyone else in the scene. He just put up a new video, sort of like a quick introduction of himself. If you haven’t yet, you should definitely check him out. Support good music!

Manifest – My Way feat. Lyricks [Produced by Sam Ock]

January 27, 2010

My VA fam did it again.

With an announcement that his next album “Open Bar” to drop in February, Manifest dropped a new song “My Way” featuring Lyricks. As usual, both emcees kill it, each with his own style. And Sam Ock…. MURDERS the beat. I get so jealous when I hear beats like this because I wish it was mine, haha. But yes, you all need to check out this track. SUPPORT GOOD MUSIC AND BUY THE ALBUM WHEN IT COMES OUT! I’ll keep you posted.

Maypang-Amin Interview

January 26, 2010

Recently I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Amin-Maypang.com about my album release and more. They were nice enough to also come support me at my album release party. You can check out the audio interview here. Here is the article and some pictures from the release party. I will put up more pictures soon!

Recently, I had to the opportunity to attend the release party of Korean-American music artist, Johnny Phlo.

The turn out of the event was such a success! Everyone had to have had a good time and if they didn’t, they’re just plain out crazy!

Johnny Phlo, along with music artists Decipher and Ailee, were present at the event and stunned us with awesome performances, singing songs from Johnny’s new album, “Basic Strategy.” Johnny and Decipher also graced us with their own version of Wonder Girl’s “Nobody,” swooning the ladies in the audience with roses. Johnny and Ailee ended the show with their newly released single, “Rollercoaster,” which made everyone get up and dance.

One thing I do have to say about the event promoted by MuZo Entertainment and Allkpop is they really know how to take care of their people. I’m sure preparations for the event were frustrating and difficult, but they kept their cool and went about with what they had to do. Hence, the good turnout of the party.

AMIN thanks Muzo and Allkpop for giving us the opportunity to attend this event and we look forward to more of their events in the future.

“Worst Ever: The Game, Twitter, and 2PM”

January 25, 2010

Read this from a-Tunes.net.
I actually didn’t even know The Game was still around. I was surprised that he even has a twitter account. What he said on his twitter got me pretty upset but not THAT upset because… honestly I had no respect for him or his music to begin with. But nonetheless, I think what he said was wrong and if he had no ill intention and he was just tryna be funny, then that explains why he fell off… sorry that was my ignorance speakin’ against his. But yea read this post and tell me how YOU feel about it:

Bet you never thought you’d see US rapper The Game, Twitter, and KPOP group 2PM in the same headline did you?

I saw this over at AngryAsianMan earlier today. Although it doesn’t really piss me off the incident makes me shake my head and sigh. Check out what he recently said on twitter when he decided to retweet a trending topic regarding 2PM and Jaebeom:

“#RT기 다릴게 박재범 기다릴게 2PM dont kno what dis trendin topic is or means but I like shrimp fried rice alot & smokin makes my eyes tight so I RT’d it”

I’m a fan of Game’s music but this was such a poor attempt at humor, especially on a public forum. I don’t believe the guy had any ill intent, rather he just isn’t aware of the insensitivity of his statement. At the end of the day it boils down to ignorance. Either way he inadvertendly helped support the cause for Jaebeom to a ton of his followers haha.

Music Monday | Dumbfoundead, Sam Ock & DJ Zo – Different Galaxies

January 25, 2010

A few weeks ago, three of my favorite artists, Dumbfoundead, Sam Ock and DJ Zo teamed up to start the year off with a bang. I was pretty shocked because I didn’t see this collab coming. DJ Zo and Dumb’s always worked together but to see Sam Ock on a track with these two was a pleasant surprise.  Sam Ock’s production and vocal helped bring out a fresh vibe from Dumb and Zo, at least from what I’ve heard so far from them. I had the pleasure of working with Zo and Sam Ock on my album. I must say these two are few of the best in their own scenes. I got to do a few shows with Dumb when Asian Hiphop Summit team was touring in the Eastcoast. My man can rhyme for days. After countless hours of cipher session throughout the tour, I have nothing but respect for the guy.

Anyways! The track is called “Different Galaxies.” Lucky for us, it’s up for free download here. Enjoy!

There are a lot of youtube videos from Asian American artists these days with this split screen collabs. I got a few in progress right now so make sure you are on the lookout!

“Basic Strategy” finally released!

January 19, 2010

The album is finally released!

Like I said over and over, I put it a lot of work in this album and I’m proud to finally present this final product to all of you.
I want to thank everybody who helped me throughout the process of finishing this album. Big ups to all (12) featuring artists on this album, all the producers that came through with the sick beats and everyone that was there to talk to me and give me advice when needed.

I won’t say much more since this video blog explains everything:

Like I explain in the video blog, I’m going to donate 50% of my sales to Haiti. I’ve never been the type to really go out of my way to help the others around the world. I was always caught up in my own life and lives of those around me that I never bothered to look around to help those that’s really, really in need. With everything that’s happened for me for the past year or so, I just feel so blessed and felt like it was only right to give it back to the world, no matter how small it may be. Also to be honest, I did feel like it will motivate some of you to purchase the album to support the cause. It ain’t about the money. It’s more important to me that you listen to my music and I hope you can feel better knowing that part of what you pay for will go to help those in need!

Music Monday… since everyone’s doing it.

January 18, 2010

I don’t know exactly what music monday is or where it started but everyone seems to introduce me to new music on mondays and call it a music monday so i’mma do the same.

I was trying to think who I’d make as my first entry. Of course I thought of so many different artists around me like Decipher, Ailee, James Ha and Beautiful Cycle (Manifest, Lyricks, JL) and more. But I’m not gonna try to put too much meaning into this being my first “music monday.” I’m just going to introduce you to someone who I’ve recently been introduced to and been a big fan of ever since.

If you follow me on twitter, then you’d know that I’ve mentioned this singer here and there. But in all seriousness, maybe because I’ve been spoiled by great singers like Ailee, James Ha, Andrew Choi, Sam Ock, not a lot of singers don’t really impress me too much. Most of them are undoubtedly talented but they don’t really catch my attention. BUT this female singer from LA really caught my attention. Her name is Clara C. From the looks of it, she also composes her own music and plays different instruments. Her videos seem so fun and goofy at times but when you listen to her voice, you know she’s serious. Check her out and I promise you you’ll become her fan. This video is my favorite one of her covers. It’s an Alicia Key Mash-up and I think she made the instrumental herself. From the short time I’ve followed her, I think this video really shows her character and talent. Enjoy!
